The Imagination Library was started in 1995 by singer Dolly Parton to provide books to young children. Dolly Parton’s mission was to foster a love of reading among preschool children and ensure that every child would have books - regardless of their family’s income. Each month, registered children receive an age-appropriate book directly to their homes. Thousands of local organizations have embraced Dolly’s dream. The Stratford chapter is headed by the Stratford Education Foundation and began in 2019.
Janet Lengel, the Coordinator of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Stratford shared, “The gift of reading is one of the best things a child can receive. It sets them up for a successful educational future.” According to Vincent Ciambriello, President & CEO of Sikorsky Credit Union, “We are proud to partner with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to provide children in our community with essential resources to set them up for success at an early age. We hope this gift will help children develop a passion for reading.”
