Stratford, Connecticut (March 28, 2013) - The Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Vincent Ciambriello as the credit union’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.

“Vinny has played an instrumental role over his twenty-six year career at Sikorsky Financial Credit Union and we are pleased to announce his appointment as our next President and Chief Executive Officer,” said William Boian, Chairman of the Board, Sikorsky Financial Credit Union. Mr. Ciambriello served as the executive leader of the Retail Delivery, IT, Marketing and Strategic Planning areas. “It is a privilege and honor to be selected to lead Sikorsky Financial Credit Union. I look forward to continuing our commitment of providing our members with the best financial products,” said Vincent Ciambriello, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sikorsky Credit Union. Ciambriello holds an MBA in Finance and a CCE (Certified Chief Executive) designation from the prestigious CUES Executive Management program.

Details regarding credit card surcharging and how it will affect you.

Merchant Surcharging

VISA has agreed to allow Merchants to add a surcharge (or swipe fee) to credit card purchases. Stipulations include: The surcharge cannot exceed 4%; the merchant must notify customers that a surcharge fee will be applied before a purchase is made; online retailers must disclose surcharges on the checkout screen where the credit card brand first appears; Connecticut is one of ten states who restrict merchants from imposing a surcharge. The Sikorsky Credit Union Scholarship program will now be acknowledged as the Thomas J. Williams Scholarship Program in honor of our recently retired President/CEO.

Scholarship Program Renamed in Honor of President/CEO

It is because of Tom’s years of leadership, wisdom and dedication to Sikorsky Credit Union that we chose to rename the Scholarship Program in his name. Tom began his career at the credit union on September 5, 1967. In 1982 he was named President/CEO of the credit union. Through Tom's leadership, the credit union has grown to over $670 million in assets and now includes five community branches, three Sikorsky Aircraft accessible branches and three high school kiosk branches. The Thomas J. Williams Scholarship Program vision is to monetarily assist high school seniors who are interested in continuing their education in the profession of their choice and grow to become exemplary leaders of tomorrow. By becoming a member of Sikorsky Credit Union, students have taken the first step towards financial independence through an organization whose mission is “To act in the best interest of our membership.”

AD&D Insurance Premium Reminder

Mark your Calendars!

This serves as a reminder to all credit union members who have purchased AD&D Insurance which we offer through Affinion/Minnesota Mutual. These payments are always debited quarterly from your account on the third business day of January, April, July and October. Please be sure to mark your calendars so you can plan to have the appropriate funds available in your account accordingly.

Manage Your Checking Account to Avoid Fees

Sikorsky CU is required to adhere to Federal Regulation D, which is a federal regulation that limits electronic debits from share savings accounts to 6 transfers or withdrawals per calendar month. The transactions that are limited include: Preauthorized payments to a third party (ACH withdrawals); Internet and Telephone Banking transfers; transfers done by phone with a Member Service Representative; overdraft transfers; and automatic transfers to other SCU share accounts (not including loans). All of SCU share savings accounts are subject to Regulation D transaction limits. Checking and Daily Money Market accounts are not subject to the limits. To properly manage your checking account and avoid fees, keep your checking balance sufficient to cover your check, ACH and debit card activity. On December 19, 2012 The Milford Trick or Trot Committee presented a check to the Milford Beth-El Center in the amount of $11,250.00.

Community Businesses Rally for the Joy of Giving

Milford Trick or Trot is comprised of representatives from the law firm of Harlow, Adams & Friedman, P.C. and Sikorsky Credit Union. They hosted their 1st Annual Milford Trick or Trot 5K Run/Walk on October 27, 2012 to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness and hunger. The event was a tremendous success, attracting over 300 runners and walkers. Everyone enjoyed a scenic route through the back roads of Milford viewing Milford Harbor and Fort Trumbull Beach. Breakfast was available for all who attended, along with live music provided by The Elwood’s, a local rock n’ blues band. The Milford Beth-El Center is the recognized leader in caring for and meeting the needs of the hungry and homeless and strives to prevent and end homelessness. It serves individuals and families by providing temporary shelter and feeds up to sixty persons daily in the soup kitchen. Scholarships available for high school seniors.

Thomas J. Williams Scholarship Program

Attention high school seniors! Are you planning to further your education after you graduate? Become a member of our credit union and take advantage of an opportunity to receive a $1,000 scholarship! We will award five (5) $1,000 college scholarships. All you have to do to be considered is to fill out an application and write an essay on “What Sikorsky Credit Union Means to Me” (minimum of 100 words). To be eligible to apply, you must be: 1. A high school senior who will graduate in June, 2013. 2. A member of Sikorsky Credit Union prior to March 15, 2013. 3. Plan to attend a university, college or accredited trade, vocational or technical institute as a full-time undergraduate student in the fall of 2013.
